04-23-07: The War Pigs took it to the crowd last Saturday night at Stash's Cafe, turning in one of the best performances yet of their short career. There are some cool photos from the gig up on the Pics page, and you can check them out by clicking HERE. ** Next up for the band is an afternoon appearance at Ocean Beach's Port 'n' Starboard Lounge on Sunday, May 6th, as part of a seven-band benefit show to help out with medical costs for kids in the area that are coping with cancer as well as severe head injuries. Admission to the show is expected to be in the $25.00 range, but it's for a good cause AND it's tax deductible! The War Pigs expect to hit the stage at around 2:00 p.m. and play for about an hour. Please note: THIS IS AN ALL-AGES EVENT! The band's next show after that will be at the Bank St. Cafe on Friday, May 11th!!!

05-29-07: The War Pigs have just signed on to a return appearance at the Bank St. Cafe on Friday, June 29th! This promises to be a Friday night to remember, with up-and-coming act Shotgun Trust slated to open the show. Both bands are psyched about this looming mid-summer debacle! Meanwhile, the War Pigs have been continuing to work on their ever-growing Sabbath set list, with the classic "Electric Funeral" set to make it's debut, probably at this next Bank St. show. ***Also*** Some photos have been posted from the band's recent performance at the Bash at the Beach benefit show from a couple of weeks ago, and you can check them out HERE. See you all soon!!!
07-01-07: The band played to an awesome crowd this past Friday night at the Bank St. Cafe! Opening act Shotgun Trust was a tremendous addition to the show, performing everything from old Iron Maiden and Dio classics to some of their own very interesting original songs. The War Pigs themselves dusted off some old Sabbath gems, treating the faithful to a first-ever rendition of "Electric Funeral" as well as a blazing romp through the Sab's great masterpiece "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" that pretty much brought the house down! The band would like to thank all of the hard core fans that continue to come out and show support, we have made a lot of new friends while playing these shows and we feel really lucky and proud to have become a musical force in the area to be reckoned with... The photos from the show are currently being processed and you will be able to check them out HERE just as soon as they are posted. ***NEXT GIG*** The band returns to their practice digs for a few weeks to gear up for a show with the Motorhead tribute What Would Lemmy Do on July 21st at Stash's in New London.
07-25-07: The band played one of their best shows ever last Saturday night, and there are three pages of excellent photos posted in the Band Photos section; you can check out the all the pics from that show by clicking HERE. As usual, you can check out all the action in the Photos section by CLICKING HERE.
12-02-07: Never say never? Never say die, thats for sure... it appears that the rumors out of New London are true: The War Pigs - complete with all four original members - have been reunited and are currently hard at work rehearsing for a very special New Year's Eve performance at the Bank Street Cafe later this month! Sources close to the band say they are excited about the show and looking forward to bringing the music of Black Sabbath back to all of their fans in the New London area. Check back soon for more details!!!
01-13-08: The WAR PIGS celebrated New Year's with a blazing ninety minute performance at downtown New London's Bank St. Cafe, with a huge crowd of revelers on hand to witness the band's first live show of 2008. HELLBORN opened the show with a set of crunching originals, and WAR PIGS took care of the rest, cranking up their brand of Black Sabbath and setting off headbanging and furious fist pumping around the bar that lasted throughout the whole night. It was a triumphant return to the stage for the band, who, since their mysterious disbandment last August have been beset by rumors for the breakup ranging from their guitarist being on death's bed in the hospital, to their bass player being abducted from his Montville farm by space aliens. None of these rumors proved to be true, as the WAR PIGS roared out of the grave and back into the hearts of New London's music fans - very much alive, and well. ************************************************************************** PHOTOS SECTION UPDATED! Check out the Band Photos section for all the pictures from last week's NEW YEAR'S EVE show. If you were at this show, your picture's probably up there!
02-28-08: The band has been keeping busy through the cold winter months, rehearsing some new songs to add to their already sizeable Black Sabbath setlist. From the classic Master Of Reality album, they have selected "Lord Of This World", one of Sabbath's most soul searching lyrical masterpieces. From the Volume 4 album comes the lesser known but equally challenging-to-play "Cornucopia", and from 1975's Sabotage album, none other than the mighty "Hole In The Sky" - certain to be the War Pigs' newest crowd pleaser! Ok that's it for now, thanks again to everybody for coming out to see the band on New Year's eve and we'll see you all this spring!
03-02-08: Ok now this is exciting news: On Friday night, April 4th, the WAR PIGS are once again coming out of their winter foxhole to perform in a blazing double-header of a show with one of the most pissed-off bands Connecticut has ever seen, FACE FIRST!!! And, what's even better is where this show is going to take place: at the recently re-opened, completely renovated (and re-named) Backstage Pass, which we all knew and loved as the former El 'n' Gee Club, right in the heart of New London's revitalized downtown area! This brand new rock club, tastefully redesigned with raised seating around the room's perimeter, a guitar shaped bar, new modern sound system and (yay!) completely rebuilt restroom facilities will surely add another great live music venue to New London's already happening music scene - and we can't wait to see the place packed with WAR PIGS and FACE FIRST fans!! Stay tuned for more details on this show and other soon to be confirmed summer appearances by the band. See you all soon!!!
04-04-08: Friday night's show at the Backstage Pass in New London was a "roaring" success. Fans turned out in droves to hear the War Pigs' first live performance in over three months - and they weren't disappointed! The band rolled out two new Sabbath songs, and they may have reached an all time record high in terms of stage volume... If you were at this show and down in front, your ears are probably still ringing! The band would like to thank the Backstage and Face First and all the fans who came out and made this such a special night. Nearly one hundred photos from this show have been posted to the War Pigs MySpace site, and you can check them out by clicking here: http:myspace.april04concertphotos PLEASE NOTE: You will need a MySpace account to view the photos. If you don't already have one, its free and it's easy to sign up. Everybody is doing it! The photos are not being uploaded to their usual place on WarpigsInfo.com because it has become apparent that MySpace is the way to go these days, and also because it only takes ten minutes to upload 75 pictures instead of taking ten hours! And viewing the pictures is much easier on MySpace as well. Eventually, much of the content here on WarPigsInfo.com will probably be shifted over to our MySpace site, as WarPigsInfo is gradually phased out. Sad but true! So go sign up at MySpace, don't miss the crazy War Pigs action from the other night! Ok, that's it for now - don't miss the War Pigs' next live performance of the summer coming up on May 2nd at the Bank St Cafe in New London!!!
| 04-26-08: The band is set to perform this upcoming Friday night, May 2nd, at the Bank St Cafe in downtown New London! | 05-13-08: Last week's show at the Bank St Cafe turned into the usual full-blown tilt, naturally, and all the pictures from the show have been posted at the War Pigs MYSPACE site, check 'em out! A really cool thing about this show was the fact that the New London Day's lead music columnist, Rick Koster came down to the Bank St. to check out the band, and as a result he is profiling the War Pigs and their fans in this Friday's edition of The Day! So be sure to grab a copy of the paper this Friday, May 16th... ***IN OTHER NEWS*** The War Pigs are scheduled to perform at 8:30 pm this Saturday night at the Backstage-Pass-formerly-El-n-Gee-club in downtown New London, as part of a 10 band lineup to benefit an old friend of the War Pigs, Concert Kelly (yes from the TV show) who lost her husband Bill this past February. Should be a cool show, come on down to the Gee!!! |
5-21-08: Well, this past week was certainly a busy one for the War Pigs. First of all, there was this huge article last Friday in the New London Day that pretty much put the band in the spotlight, at least for a day or two! This was a very nice write-up by the venerable Mr. Rick Koster, and you can read the killer article in its entirety by clicking HERE: "CELEBRATING THE SABBATH" ....As if that wasn't enough, the day after the newspaper story hit the streets, the band turned in a scorching performance at the Benefit For Concert Kelly down at the new El n Gee Club in downtown New London. Some great photos from the show have been posted at the War Pigs MySpace site, check 'em out if you have the time! (You gotta have a free account to view the photos...) ***THIS WEEKEND*** The War Pigs are bringing their Sabbath Road Show into Norwich, CT for a rare Sunday afternoon performance at the High Noon Saloon on West Main St. (across and down the street a bit from Old Times restaurant) for the Pappy's Day biker crowd. This should be a good time, with lots of beer and barbecue. Also appearing is a group of hard rockers called The Enth - they are scheduled to hit the stage around 4:00 pm, to be followed immediately by the War Pigs at around 5:30 - 6:00. See you all soon!!!

***THE FOLLOWING BREAKING NEWS REPORT IS USED BY PERMISSION*** FROM REUTERS NEWS SERVICE SUMMARY - 09-05-08: NEW LONDON, CT: Members of the heavy rock band "War Pigs" and their fans narrowly escaped injury early Saturday morning when a portion of the roof of the establishment in which they were performing, the Bank Street Cafe in downtown New London, Connecticut collapsed only moments into the band's performance. Minor injuries were reported, mainly from the smoking area outside the popular nightclub, where bystanders described the scene as "raining boards and old shingles" down upon the heads of several surprised War Pigs fans. No immediate information was available as to the structural safety of the building that houses the establishment, or its continued operation, but reportedly the Black Sabbath tribute band continued its performance to a still-packed house after a brief pause to remove debris from the stage area and to transport the injured. Two fans were treated and released at nearby Lawrence and Memorial Hospital after complaining of signifigant hearing loss, which was later determined to have been caused by the excessive sound pressure levels generated by the War Pigs performance, and not the blast from the roof explosion. The owners of the landmark New London nightclub could not immediately be reached for comment. Click HERE for a Photo Gallery of the incident.
11-06-08: The War Pigs Halloween show last Friday night in Gales Ferry with fellow tribute band Purgatory was about as kick-ass as it gets! There were plenty of horrifying costumes - as well as some cute ones - and yes, there was even a Sasquatch sighting! The band brought in a camera crew to capture the action, so look for a DVD from the show to surface soon... meanwhile, you can check out all the pictures from the Halloween show by clicking HERE. Also, some killer live audio from the gig is available for download on the War Pigs MySpace site, courtesy of Shawn Allen and Red Bone Recordings - get over there and check it out! The guys are getting back to work this weekend, going into rehearsals for their next appearance - a return engagement at the Backstage Rock Club in Groton, CT. The band loves playing at the Backstage and they usually bring out everything but the kitchen sink, so don't miss it! The timing of the show couldn't be better - Black Friday November 28th, the day after Thanksgiving - ONLY the biggest partying day of the Holiday season! That's it for now for the News - we love you all and we'll SEE YOU ALL SOON!!!
